How many laser tattoo removal treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

(Question from Shannon in Ft Wayne, Indiana) With laser tattoo removal, it typically takes 3-23 treatments to be 70-100% complete. Everyone reacts to the laser differently. Some people respond faster than others. Skin type, tattoo color and density, location on the body, as well as your body will make a difference in how many treatments are needed. Other important factors include the type of and number of laser and the knowledge and reputation of the facility and staff performing the treatments. We do an analysis at a free consultation to give you a good estimate of the number of treatments we feel will be required based on your specific goals.

What is the difference between the Basic Bikini, Bikini Extended, Brazilian Bikini and Brazilian Extended?

(Question from Megan in Indianapolis, Indiana) At Indy Laser we have four different laser hair removal options for the female bikini. The first is the Basic Bikini: This includes about 2-3 inches outside of a traditional panty line. This does not include inside the panty line. The next is the Bikini Extended: This will include 2-3 inches outside of a traditional panty line and inside the panty line on the sides. This includes as much off the top as you would like but does not include the labia. The third is the Brazilian Bikini: This includes everything or as much as you want off the front of the bikini area, including the labia. The final is the Brazilian Extended: This includes the Brazilian Bikini and includes the anal area.

Is it possible to do more than one treatment in a day?

(Question from Ask Indy Laser) It depends what you are considering multiple treatments and what services. For laser hair removal or laser tattoo removal, you can definitely have a number of different areas treated within the same visit. We have a lot of clients who have laser hair removal performed on a majority of their body or multiple tattoos treated in one visit. If you are referring to having the same area treated multiple times in one day that would be a definite NO. The consecutive laser hair removal or laser tattoo removal treatments would typically be spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, depending on what spacing your laser technician has determined is appropriate for your situation. If you are referring to other laser or spa services, we would need to know the specifics to better guide you. Feel free to call the experts at Indy Laser at (317)57-LASER.

Can I have laser hair removal treatments while I am pregnant?

(Question from Laura in Cicero, Indiana) No, while there is no potential harm from having laser hair removal or laser tattoo removal done during pregnancy, we choose not to treat during pregnancy. During pregnancy, a womans hormones and body’s processes are going through major changes. While these changes are going on the treatments are typically very ineffective and unpredictable.

How many treatments will I need for laser hair removal?

(Question from Tammy in Muncie, Indiana) On average it takes 5-7 treatments to be 75-98% complete. Everyone reacts to the laser differently. Some people respond faster than others. Skin color, hair color and density, hormonal imbalances, as well as the area of the body can make a difference in how many treatments are needed.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

(Question from Lucy in Greenfield, Indiana) Everyone has a different tolerance for pain for laser hair removal. Most people find it to be very fast and tolerable and numbing cream is usually unnecessary. Limiting sun and tanning bed exposure during the process will help make the treatments more comfortable.

Does laser hair removal work on light colored hair?

(Question from Mike in Lafayette, Indiana) It only works on light brown to black hair. It will NOT work on blonde, gray, white, most shades of red or peach fuzz.

Do I need to grow the hair out before a treatment?

(Question from Michelle in Carmel, Indiana) No, the area needs to be shaved or trimmed. It is best to have a little bit of stubble. We recommend shaving or trimming a day or two before a treatment. You can not wax, tweeze or thread the area in between treatments.

Will I see immediate results with laser hair removal?

(Question from Mindy in Brownsburg, Indiana) Between treatments you will notice the hair that is growing back to be finer and possibly a little bit lighter. You will also notice the hair that has not been killed yet will be stunted, therefore causing less shaving and trimming time in between treatments. If you suffer from razor burn or ingrown hairs, you will also notice a decrease throughout the duration of your treatments.

How do I know I am a candidate for laser hair removal?

(Question from Cathy in Avon, Indiana) You would NOT be a candidate if you are currently pregnant, not willing to give up sun or tanning bed exposure for the duration of your treatments, are on light sensitive medications, have a history of keloid scarring or seizures, if you have metal implants in the area to be treated or if you have light colored hair.

Is it possible to be burned or have permanent scarring from the laser?

(Question from Lisa in Broadripple, Indiana) Yes, these are potential adverse side effects of laser hair removal. This is why it is important to use a reputable provider and experienced technicians. Most burns are caused from inexperienced technicians, sun or tanning bed exposure two weeks before or after treatments, light sensitive medications and skin care products that contain certain acids. Experiencing hyper pigmentation or hypo pigmentation are temporary side effects that could happen. Communicating honestly with your technician and notifying them of any changes in medication or skin care products will ensure that you have a safe treatment with excellent results.

Do I have to have a consultation?

(Question from Cindy in Westfield, Indiana) Yes, you must have a consultation prior to being treated. We need to make sure there are no issues that would prevent us from safely treating you. Your safety is our number one priority.

Can you have laser hair removal with tanned skin?

(Question from Kim in Indianapolis, Indiana) Technically, yes there are lasers that are capable of treating tanned skin. These are the same lasers that are used to treat darker skin types. However, if you want an effective and comfortable laser hair removal treatment you need to be as close to your natural skin coloring as possible. The pigment that builds up as your skin gets tan is the same pigment in your hair that is being targeted by the laser. So, the more tan you have, the more your skin becomes a target. Because of this, your settings will have to be lowered to prevent burning your skin. Obviously, this results in a less than optimal or more uncomfortable treatment. If you want good quick cost-effective results you need to choose between being hair free or tan during the process.

Is laser hair removal expensive?

(Question from Jim in Lebanon, Indiana) It depends on a number of factors and your definition of expensive. What are you comparing it to? Laser hair is a permanent solution as opposed to shaving, waxing and creams. Depending on your current method of hair removal, it can easily pay for itself over a few months to a few years, not to mention the time savings. We list all of our prices here on our site and we usually have some type of specials running. Please compare our prices, experience and service with anybody else. What you will see is we are not the cheapest or the most expensive. There are some out there that offer 50% off and their prices are still 6 times ours at full price. There are others that run deals at 96% off on a regular basis. If it sounds too good to be true…there is usually a catch of some sort. We are among the lowest priced providers, offering quality on time appointments, using the best technology in the industry, with a consistent, highly experienced staff.
